Growing up I remember picking apples and peaches from the trees we grew and with my sisters having to peel all that fruit for mom to can or freeze. Though we enjoyed climbing the trees and gathering all the fruit we hated having to sit down after all that fun to peel each and every one and god forbid if we took off too much of the fruit with the peel. I friggin hate the cold, and the wretched time change so that it get’s dark by six pm. I don’t know why I’m still in KC if I hate the cold and the dark nights so much. It’s so bad that some days I want to throw a temper tantrum like I’m five again. Mainly I stay because of family and of course not enough money to move is why I continue to torture myself every year with the snow, the ice and of course the cold winds.

Every year starting sometime in October around Halloween when the nights start turning chilly, I begin telling myself I can’t take it anymore I need to move. Of course I’m never prepared for winter’s arrival, my car as usual hasn’t been winterized, I of course can’t seem to ever buy a decent winter coat in time and as always the scarf and gloves from last year are gone to wherever those things disappear to during the summer months. Daily Prompt: Ready, Set, Done

I was going through some old photos today that I wanted to scan and pack away when I ran across the picture of my best friend and buddy in the whole wide world. We meet back in 2000 in St. Louis, and even though we both moved to separate areas, him to the Georgia area and me back to my hometown.

So today’s post was a good way to reflect over my friend and our life as I looked at that long forgotten photograph and remembered the times we shared our poetry with each other, how we both had names for our collection of poetry that one day we would share with the world.

His book was called “Oral Elixir” which he did publish and mines will be called “Series of Climaxes” which I put aside when I moved back to KC but now after all these many years I want to bring those words back into the light. Continue reading “Consummation Of The Poetry” →

Daily Prompt: Greetings, Stranger

You’re sitting at a café when a stranger approaches you. This person asks what your name is, and, for some reason, you reply. The stranger nods, “I’ve been looking for you.” What happens next?

She had finally arrived; she was in London sitting at a lovely downtown café, absorbing everything going on around her, she closed her eyes to take a sip of the intensely strong coffee in order to savor the flavors flowing over her tongue.

Looking up a contented smile on her lips, she sees a tall handsome stranger arriving, their eyes meet, hers a dark chocolate brown, his dazzling green. Dropping her eyes quickly, the smile vanishing, she shivered as if a breeze had blown by. He paused mid-step; it felt as if an electric shock had touched him, moving towards the table where she sat alone, it was as if unseen hands were guiding him.
