A Dream Nonetheless – A Story

Daily Prompt: Greetings, Stranger

You’re sitting at a café when a stranger approaches you. This person asks what your name is, and, for some reason, you reply. The stranger nods, “I’ve been looking for you.” What happens next?

Coffee around the world

She had finally arrived; she was in London sitting at a lovely downtown café, absorbing everything going on around her, she closed her eyes to take a sip of the intensely strong coffee in order to savor the flavors flowing over her tongue.

Looking up a contented smile on her lips,  she sees a tall handsome stranger arriving, their eyes meet, hers a dark chocolate brown, his dazzling green. Dropping her eyes quickly, the smile vanishing, she shivered as if a breeze had blown by. He paused mid-step; it felt as if an electric shock had touched him, moving towards the table where she sat alone, it was as if unseen hands were guiding him.  Continue reading “A Dream Nonetheless – A Story”

The Song That Is Summer To Me!!

Daily Prompt: Musical Marker

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/dp_prompt/musical-marker/

We all have songs that remind us of specific periods and events in our lives. Twenty years from now, which song will remind you of the summer of 2014?

When I got up this morning my plan was to write a rant blog but I saw the daily prompt and since I haven’t done one in a long time I decided that I would put the rant aside cause I’m sure I will see something else that I will want to add to it.

Today’s prompt is to write about a song that will remind me in twenty years about this summer of 2014. Under normal circumstances it would be a great love song but in my opinion there hasn’t been any really good love songs since I was a teenager. But there is one song out there that was released this year that I found to be really catchy and helped make me forget my troubles when I first heard it, that song is by Pharell Williams called “Happy”.

This is just one of those songs that makes you want to get up and dance all over the place and if I could I would. This song also remind that no matter what to be happy during the good and even the bad and this has been a bad summer for me.

The second verse of the song is my favorite it says “here comes bad news talking this and that, well give me all you got and don’t hold it back, I should probably warn you I’ll be just fine, no offense to you, don’t waste your time.”

It seems I’ve had nothing but bad news coming my way all this summer, with ankle surgery keeping me off my feet and not being able to work made my finances spiral out of control, plus I’m right in the middle of trying to move. So when I listen to this song it makes everything a little more bearable.

It’s Your Party

Since my birthday is two weeks after the 4th, I get to celebrate the 4th as well as my birthday in the month of July, two of my favorite days in the Summer.

Since I didn’t see this question until afterwards I will rewrite something for my birthday and share today what I miss about my 4th of July celebrations. Continue reading “An Old Time 4th of July!”

You just inherited $1,000,000 from an aunt you didn’t even know existed. What’s the first thing you buy (or otherwise use the money for)?

I think that all of us have had this silly dream that somehow we would wind up inheriting loads of money from some relative we never knew we had. I have to admit that it would be nice and would take so much worry out of my life that I could finally just breath.

If I were to fantasize something like this, I will have to admit the very first thing on my list would be this:

Loft home
Loft home

It’s a loft home in the neighborhood I live in that I have drooled over for the past 5 years, from the first moment I walked into the show house it felt right, it felt like home. To me it looks like a modern day Flintstones mansion and I love the slick lines and the sharp edges. The only thing different I may buy two of them and combine them so I can enlarge the kitchen and dining areas. So every Sunday we would have Sunday dinners at my place, an no matter what time you come around you would find something good cooking or baking away. I want this home to be filled with lots of good food and love a place that when my end comes my grandchildren will have fond memories of all the good things that came out of grandmas house. So yes that house would be my very first thing I would buy with my new wealth. Continue reading “Gone with the Windfall”

Unsafe Containers: Daily Prompt

Unsafe Containers: Which emotion(s) —joy, envy, rage, pity, or something else — do you find to be the hardest to contain?

Today, just another day to recuperate from ankle surgery has turned into a day filled with sadness, a sadness that has morphed into anger within my heart and spirit. This sadness and anger comes from deep within the spirit of the woman I am, for you see the woman was created to be a nurturer, a helper (I’m pissing somebody off right now). So when I see or hear of an injustice, when I see or hear of someone causing pain to the children my heart weeps and screams to understand why.
